These right here are some major fireworks. That'd be amazing to see all of that go off all at once...although, highly unlikely. But, Fireworks are amazing! Seeing fireworks being shot off under the Arch in St. Louis is pretty sweet, or over the Mississippi in St. Paul, MN (Well, both of these are the same river, different locale.), or over the ocean. One of the best shows that I've seen is in St. Paul, but not for the 4th, it's for Memorial Day. Those were major fireworks.
On the 4th, major fireworks happened in Flagler Beach, FL! Well, to start the story right, we did see the shuttle launch from the beach, which was pretty amazing! It was really cool to see the shuttle and the smoke and the fire off of the thrusters. Then to see the shuttle rotate and actually see the white of the shuttle and then, as the solid rocket boosters drop, the shuttle disappears into space! That was the first "awe" moment of the day.
(This is a picture of us taken in May near the Minnehaha Falls in the Twin Cities.)
After spending much of the day laying out under the sun and playing the waves...there were really nice waves out on the 4th. We had a great time. After eating dinner and sitting around and talking and seeing some of the youth from church, the time was coming to ask her.
Erin and her brother Mark, just happen to start talking to an old friend from high school when I went into my backpack to get the ring. Mind you I had thrown Erin off by saying that maybe we should go to Jacksonville on Saturday (07.08.06) to get her a ring, so she wasn't so ready to see me get down on one knee in front of her and her whole family and all of the people that were at Flagler Beach! She was in shock! She did have her suspicions about the 4th being it, but she wasn't sure that it'd happen. Regardless, she said yes! And the date is set for 07.07.07!!! The wedding will take place here at her church, my vicarage congregation that day! Erin and I are both still smiles about it all!
